On May 5, 2005 Disneyland just kicked off its 50-year anniversary celebration: The Happiest Coming on Earth. Festivities for the press and special guests began on May 3 with a preview party hosted by actor Kelsey Grammer. May 4 began with a tribute by actor and former Disneyland cast member (employee) Steve Martin. May 3, 2005--Disneyland premieres itd Happiest Homecoming on Earth in a multimedia presentation of Disney properties worldwide.

May 3--Kelsey Grammer hosted the preview of celebration events happening concurrently at all Disney properties worldwide.

May 3--Toy Story soldiers ordered the festivities to begin.

Parade of Dreams, May 4--Tinkerbell heads the float in the new daytime parade running for the next 18 months.

May 4--Disneyland welcomed home actor Steve Martin, who worked for Disneyland as a teenager. Martin introduced a new historical multimedia exhibit.

May 4--Karl Karcher, 87, founder of the famed Carl's Jr. restaurants, shows his Disney pride with commemorative golden Mouse ears.

May 4--Oscar Martinez worked on Disneyland's opening day in 1955 and he's still cooking up good food at the Carnation Cafe.

May 4--So realistic they're spooky, Toy Soldiers swarmed during the opening of the new Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. Tim Allen hosted the opening.

Disney stock photo--The May 5 gala opened with the unveiling of the golden crowns upon Disneyland's crown jewel, Sleeping Beauty Castle.

May 5--LeAnn Rimes sang "Remember When," a musical tribute composed for the occasion. A video presentation of Disneyland through the years ran behind.

May 5--Art Linkletter, still a powerful onstage personality at age 93, emceed the celebration.

May 5--Christina Aquilera, former Mouseketter came home to Disneyland for a soulful rendition of "When You Wish Upon a Star."

May 5--Julie Andrews, Honorary Ambassador of Disneyland during the 50th anniversary celebration, welcomed Disney characters home for the festivities.

May 5--Homecoming cast gathers for a final hurrah as fireworks light the sky behind the gleaming castle.

May 5--A spectacular new lights, lasers, music and fireworks extravaganza runs through the 18-month celebration, complete with a Tinkerbell flyover.
